The Writing Centre is looking for Student Assistants to work 0-15 hours per week during the 2022-23 school year, with time off during exam periods. Shifts may include weekend or evening hours and both online and in-person tutoring. We are interested in students with strong writing skills and a passion for writing, and also students from a range of disciplines, including business, engineering, the arts, and the sciences. Experience working with additional language learners is an asset.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Writing Centre Student Assistants primarily work one-on-one with undergraduate students from all disciplines, supporting them in their writing and research. Other duties may include the following:

  • Class visits, online or in-person, to promote the Writing Centre
  • Administrative tasks
  • Special writing initiatives

Assistants work closely with the Writing Centre Coordinator (to whom they report) and are required to attend regularly scheduled training sessions and staff meetings throughout the year.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Preference will be given to applicants who have completed, or are in the process of completing, courses designated as writing intensive
  • Applicants should also be in good academic standing at the time of applying and during their tenure as Student Assistant

 

Priority will be given to University of Prince Edward Island students in accordance with Recruitment, Selection, Hiring and Employment Policies and the Procedures manual.
