The Department of Companion Animals at the Atlantic Veterinary College (AVC), University of Prince Edward Island, invites applications for a full-time tenure track faculty position in Diagnostic Imaging. Appointment will be made at the Assistant or Associate professor level.

The successful applicant will join an established diagnostic imaging program with a clinical radiologist, a diagnostic imaging intern and two experienced radiation technologists. Duties in this position include didactic teaching in undergraduate and graduate programs, clinical teaching of senior year undergraduate students and house officers, provision of clinical service in the Veterinary Teaching Hospital (including emergency/after-hours services), development of a research program and contribution to extension and continuing education programs.

The successful candidate will have:

  • DVM (or equivalent) degree
  • Successfully completed an ACVR or ECVDI residency program
  • Demonstrated teaching ability
  • Well-developed skills of collaboration, relationship building, communication and leadership
  • Eligibility for licensure with the Prince Edward Island Veterinary Medical Association. 

Preference will be given to candidates with diplomate status in the American College of Veterinary Radiology (ACVR) or European College of Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging (ECVDI) and those experienced in a variety of diagnostic imaging modalities including ultrasound, CT and MRI. A graduate degree is desirable but not mandatory.

The salary is commensurate with credentials and experience. Full-time, permanent faculty receive a comprehensive fringe benefit package including competitive paid vacation and consulting weeks, with benefit details provided at time of offer in accordance with the collective agreement.  This appointment is subject to budgetary approval.

The AVC has recently upgraded and expanded its diagnostic imaging capabilities and equipment including high field magnetic resonance imaging, 128 slice computed tomography, Philips Zenition 70 C-arm, and a Philips EPIQ Elite ultrasound.
