Dr. Armin Bodaghkhani from faculty of sustainable design engineering, University of Prince Edward Island, is looking to hire a student from mechanical or sustainable design engineering program to assist with tasks related to research and simulation of small-scale wind turbine and a closed-loop fluidic system consists of fluid-related equipment. The primary tasks will be literature survey, design of parts with CAD and 3D software, meshing and analysis with flow solvers.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Make a commitment and show dedicated efforts to gain the background knowledge and skills needed to pursue your assigned project successfully.
  • In conjunction with your supervisor, develop a plan and timetable for completion of all stages of your project, adhere to a schedule and meet appropriate deadlines.
  • Meet with your supervisor when requested and report fully and regularly on progress and results.
  • Give serious consideration to the advice and criticisms received from your supervisor
  • Be thoughtful and reasonably frugal in using resources provided by your supervisor and the University and assist in obtaining additional resources for your research or for other group members where applicable
  • Review the literature regularly and keep your literature survey up to date
  • Maintain exemplary records of your experimental/theoretical work/Simulation study (so that others can replicate your results)
  • Work with CAD and 3D software to build geometry for two projects
  • Work with ANSYS-Meshing software to produce high quality mesh for the models
  • Work with ANSYS-Fluent and CFD-Post to analyze the flow and extract high quality results and graphs from the data
  • Follow the University's policy regarding ownership of intellectual property

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be a student at UPEI, with preference given to FSDE students
  • Ability and experience to design a mechanical piece with Solid Work, Creo and other similar CAD software
  • Ability and experience to work with ANSYS-Meshing software
  • Knowledge and experience to work with flow simulation software such as ANSYS-FLUENT or similar flow software

Priority will be given to University of Prince Edward Island students in accordance with Recruitment, Selection, Hiring and Employment Policies and the Procedures manual.
