The University of Prince Edward Island (UPEI) is seeking a Student Navigator to serve as a central point of contact and coordination for students throughout their university experience. Located within the Dalton Hall Welcome Centre, the Student Navigator provides holistic support, information, guidance, triage, and referral services to help students access the academic, administrative, wellness, and support resources they need to succeed.

Working collaboratively with faculty and staff, the Student Navigator enhances the student experience by reducing barriers, supporting timely access to services, and promoting a coordinated, student-centered approach to student success, engagement, retention, and well-being. The position also contributes to service improvement initiatives, student communications, and the development of navigation resources that support consistent and accessible service delivery across the University.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Student Support and Service Navigation
•    Serve as a welcoming first point of contact for students seeking information, assistance, or referrals
•    Identify student needs and connect students with appropriate resources and services across campus
•    Provide warm referrals and coordinated follow-up to ensure students receive timely support
•    Address routine student inquiries and service issues in accordance with established policies and procedures
•    Identify and escalate complex situations requiring specialized support or intervention 
•    Act as a consultant to the Student Assistants in monitoring, triaging, and managing student requests received service channels
•    Maintain and report on student navigation service metrics, establish baseline performance measures, identify service barriers, and recommend improvements based on student inquiry, referral, resolution, and follow up data
•    Curate the calendar of events supporting student success, involvement, and belonging

Student Resource and Referral Coordination
•    Develop, maintain, and manage centralized student navigation resources, including SharePoint-based information and referral tools
•    Maintain a comprehensive student guidance and referral framework that supports coordinated service delivery across the University
•    Ensure information regarding services, contacts, processes, referral pathways, and escalation procedures remains current, accessible, and accurate
•    Collaborate with campus partners to identify service gaps and opportunities to improve the student experience
•    Assist with training of faculty and staff in frequently asked questions

Student Communications Support
•    Support the implementation of institution-wide student communications and engagement strategies
•    Contribute to the development and maintenance of student communication plans and content calendars
•    Coordinate with academic and administrative units to ensure communications are consistent, accessible, and student-focused
•    Share information on campus services, events, resources, deadlines, and opportunities
•    Assist in evaluating communication effectiveness and recommending improvements

Team Support
•    Provide advice and guidance to Student Assistants within the Welcome Centre.
•    Assist with onboarding, training, and ongoing coaching of student employees
•    Promote consistent service standards and customer service excellence
•    Coordinate the parents' informational website

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education
•    Undergraduate degree in Education, Student Services, Social Sciences, Human Services, Communications, Public Administration, Business Administration, or a related field
Experience
•    Minimum of three years of related experience in student services, customer service, advising, program coordination, communications, or a similar environment
•    Experience supporting individuals through complex processes and navigating multiple services and programs
•    Experience working in a post-secondary environment is considered an asset

Knowledge and Skills
•    Strong understanding of student-centered service delivery and student success principles
•    Excellent interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills
•    Demonstrated ability to assess needs, exercise sound judgment, and manage sensitive situations with professionalism and discretion
•    Strong organizational skills and ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
•    Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders across the University
•    Experience using Microsoft 365 applications, SharePoint, databases, ticketing systems, and other digital tools would be considered an asset
