Business Analyst - Finance Office
$94,860 to $105,196 per annum
ASAP for a 3-year term (Term may be reduced or extended depending on performance, available funding, and departmental requirements)
The University of Prince Edward Island is seeking a Business Analyst to support strategic finance initiatives focused on process improvement, system enhancement, and digital transformation. This role combines business analysis, financial expertise, and project management to improve operational efficiency, reporting, and service delivery across the University.
Working collaboratively with Finance, IT, and other stakeholders, the successful candidate will help identify opportunities for innovation and lead initiatives that support the University's evolving business needs.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Business Analysis & Process Improvement
- Analyze financial processes, data flows, reporting requirements, and system functionality across University finance operations
- Identify opportunities for process optimization, automation, standardization, and continuous improvement
- Document current and future-state business processes and develop recommendations to improve efficiency and effectiveness
- Facilitate stakeholder consultations and requirements-gathering activities, translating business needs into functional requirements and practical solutions
Project Delivery & Systems Enhancement
- Lead or support projects from planning through implementation, including scope development, stakeholder engagement, risk management, change management, and reporting.
- Collaborate with IT and business stakeholders to improve the effectiveness, usability, and integration of financial systems and reporting tools
- Develop business cases, project documentation, reports, and presentations for leadership and stakeholders
- Support procurement initiatives, including RFPs, vendor evaluations, and implementation of new financial technologies
Digital Transformation & Automation
- Support Finance's transition to Microsoft 365 by developing automated workflows, electronic forms, dashboards, and reporting solutions
- Identify and implement opportunities to improve operational efficiency using Power BI, Power Automate, SharePoint, Forms, Lists, and related technologies
- Assist in the development of governance practices, business rules, and standard operating procedures related to financial systems and reporting tools
Training & Stakeholder Support
- Develop and maintain process documentation, workflows, training materials, and user guides
- Support user training, adoption, and change management initiatives related to financial systems and business processes
- Build effective relationships across the University and serve as a resource for business process and system-related initiatives
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Undergraduate degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Information Systems, or a related field
- Five years of experience in business analysis, process improvement, financial systems, project management, or a related area
- An equivalent combination of education and work experience will be considered
- Demonstrated experience analyzing business processes and implementing solutions in a complex organizational environment
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills
- Excellent communication, facilitation, and stakeholder relationship management skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and balance strategic objectives with operational detail
Assets
- Experience in the post-secondary education sector
- Knowledge of ERP systems, financial systems, and e-commerce platforms
- Experience with Microsoft 365 applications, including Power BI, Power Automate, SharePoint, Forms, Lists, and Teams
- Familiarity with financial services, procurement, budgeting, student finance, or research accounting
- Professional certifications such as CBAP, PMP, Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt
