Location: Halifax, Nova Scotia (remote) with travel throughout Atlantic Canada and North America as required.

The Atlantic College of Veterinary Medicine (AVC) is seeking a dynamic, relationship-focused professional to help advance AVC’s mission through industry partnerships, alumni relations, strategic outreach, and donor engagement. 

Based in Nova Scotia, this position will build meaningful relationships with alumni, veterinary professionals, industry leaders, corporations, foundations, government representatives, and community partners. The successful candidate will be a highly motivated relationship builder with experience advancing philanthropic priorities, cultivating strategic partnerships, and increasing awareness of AVC's impact throughout Atlantic Canada. Through strategic engagement and compelling storytelling, they will help communicate AVC's vision and mission to a wide range of audiences.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Build and maintain relationships with alumni, donors, industry partners, corporations, and community stakeholders.
  • Work closely with the AVC leadership and UPEI Department of Development and Alumni Engagement to develop and implement effective strategies aligned with AVC’s fundraising priorities.
  • Prepare and present compelling funding proposals and presentations that align donor interests with institutional priorities, in collaboration with UPEI Department of Development and Alumni Engagement.
  • Manage portfolio of major gift giving prospects and current donors.
  • Support marketing, communications, and event initiatives, in collaboration with AVC’s External Engagement Team.
  • Support the creation of content for digital channels, stakeholder communications, fundraising initiatives, and promotional materials.
  • Lead special projects and events assigned that enhance community engagement and the college’s advancement.
  • Participate in regular virtual meetings and collaborate with colleagues remotely, while travelling periodically to Prince Edward Island and across North America for key meetings, events, and stakeholder engagement opportunities.
  • Other duties as assigned by AVC’s Senior External Engagement Officer or Dean.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum four-year undergraduate degree in a relevant field or equivalent combination of education and experience (such as a Registered Veterinary Technician with relevant experience)
  • Minimum three years of experience in advancement, fundraising, business development, external relations, account management, partnership development, or a related discipline
  • Demonstrated success in managing stakeholder relationships, securing financial support, and engaging with business, community, and industry leaders in Halifax and across Nova Scotia
  • Strong writing, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and donor-centered fundraising
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to work collaboratively and independently in a dynamic team environment

Assets:

  • Knowledge of the veterinary, animal health, agriculture, life sciences, or related sectors would be considered an asset.
  • Certified Fund-Raising Executive (CFRE) designation considered an asset.

Additional Requirements:

  • Candidate holds valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle
  • Candidate holds valid passport and eligibility to travel abroad
