Student French/Spanish Laboratory Assistants (Up to 9 Positions) - Department of Modern Languages - Faculty of Arts
$15.75 per hour plus 4% vacation pay
September 13, 2021 – April 5, 2022
The Department has openings for up to 9 students of Modern Languages to perform various duties connected with the Language Laboratory in French and in Spanish.
Applicants wanting to be considered for second term only must apply now and indicate this on their application.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Attending training and orientation sessions
- Assisting professors in language lab learning activities for beginners and proctoring virtual lab work
- With the aid of a marking template, scanning assignments to provide feedback of preliminary grade recommendations
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Applicants must have studied at least two of the languages presently taught by the Department; familiarity with the electronic and computer lab would be an asset
For the French Labs:
- Applicants normally will be third or fourth year students in French and/or have a strong background in French
- Strong interpersonal skills are required
- Reliability and dependability are a must
For the Spanish Labs:
- Applicants normally will be third or fourth year students in Spanish and/or have a strong background in Spanish
- Strong interpersonal skills are required
- Reliability and dependability are a must
Priority will be given to University of Prince Edward Island students in accordance with Recruitment, Selection, Hiring and Employment Policies and the Procedures manual.
