Start With Hello

Hello! Kwe'

A simple greeting can be so important: it starts a conversation and acknowledges your presence.

New students arriving to UPEI's campus may be feeling disconnected, uncertain, or alone. While support systems and opportunities exist, students can still struggle to build meaningful connections, leaving some feeling unnoticed, unengaged, and disconnected from the broader campus community throughout their university experience.

Start With Hello

Building the inclusive and supportive campus everyone wants can start with hello—where students, faculty, and staff actively acknowledge one another, initiate conversations, and contribute to a stronger sense of belonging and community. Referencing the amazing work of the Sandy Hook Promise project, Start With Hello demonstrates the positive impacts of human connection.

  • A hello opens the door to friendship, mentorship, collaboration, and support.
  • A welcoming campus is built through everyday actions, not institutional programs alone
