U SPORTS has announced that the UPEI Women’s Field Hockey Panthers will represent the Atlantic region at the upcoming National Bank Field Hockey Canada (FHC) U SPORTS Championship. The championship, hosted by the University of Waterloo in Waterloo, Ontario, takes place from Thursday, November 5, through Sunday, November 8, 2026.

UPEI’s qualification follows a ruling by U SPORTS declaring that the Dalhousie University Tigers used an ineligible student-athlete throughout the 2026 season. Dalhousie self-disclosed the violation, resulting in the forfeiture of their season games and the regional title.

The Panthers, who were undefeated all season, finished second at the Atlantic University Field Hockey League Championship after losing to the Tigers in a sudden-death penalty shootout on October 25. They will now make their third appearance in a row at the national championship.

UPEI will compete against the nation’s top university teams at Warrior Field on the University of Waterloo campus, kicking off their tournament action on Thursday, November 5, when they face off against the host team at 7:30 pm AST. They return to the field on Friday, November 6, to challenge the University of Toronto at 5:00 pm AST, followed by their final round-robin match against the University of British Columbia on Saturday, November 7, at 5:30 pm AST. The tournament concludes on Sunday, November 8, with the bronze medal match set for 1:00 pm AST and the gold medal championship match taking place at 3:30 pm AST.
