Recognizing Remarkable Colleagues continues to be a meaningful way for our community to celebrate one another. Since the program began last August, 242 submissions have highlighted the exceptional work, dedication, and kindness of our colleagues.

Thanks to the ongoing interest and participation, submissions will continue to be featured in upcoming issues of Campus Connector. You can read submissions for June, 2026 (organized in alphabetical order) below.

Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to share stories of appreciation and celebration for their colleagues. It’s inspiring to see our community come together to recognize those who go above and beyond every day.

Submissions for July are now open! Share your note of recognition by the last Friday of the month, and let’s continue celebrating the amazing colleagues who make our campus shine.

As part of our continued efforts to grow and improve this program, we’ve introduced a new submission form. With this updated process, the colleague being recognized will automatically receive an email notification that they have been recognized and will appear in next month's Recognizing Remarkable Colleagues issue. For more details on the program, including links to past issues and details on the new submission form, please click here.

Sherilyn Acorn, Office of Study Abroad and International Collaboration
A colleague and I have just come back from two Maymester courses abroad, which were both transformational experiences for our students. Those experiences would not have been possible had it not been for Sherilyn's support and enthusiasm for experiential learning abroad. She guided us through the process, stayed connected while we were planning and overseas, and just did a great debrief of our experiences. She does hard work that I think often goes unseen, and for that, I am happy to nominate her as a remarkable colleague. - Shannon Murray

Willow Anderson, Registrar's Office
Please recognize the excellent knowledge and work of Administrative Assistant Willow Anderson. They are such a welcome addition to Dalton Hall and have so much knowledge about UPEI processes and practices to share. They are always willing to help students, staff, and faculty!

Lisa Anne Cox, Diagnostic Services, Atlantic Veterinary College
Lisa is always willing to lend a helping hand and consistently goes above and beyond to support those around her. She brightens every day with her laughter, warm smile, and genuinely kind heart. Her thoughtful gestures, whether it's flowers, cakes, or heartfelt cards, make others feel valued and appreciated. Lisa's kindness and generosity help create a welcoming and positive workplace environment. I feel fortunate to know her and even more fortunate to work alongside her every day.

Sweta Daboo, Faculty of Medicine
Sweta is the essence of what every team needs—a strong, smart, dedicated, detail-oriented person who is driven, motivated, and able to move a large amount of work in a short period of time with excellent precision. She is kind, helpful, has an infectious laugh, and a pleasure to work with every day. The UPEI Faculty of Medicine is fortunate to have her working on all policy, program development, social event planning, and other strategic priorities. A fellow of the Action Canada Leadership Development Program, Sweta has tremendous potential, and I look forward to seeing her do big things for our small province! - Rebecca Gill

Susan Dawson, Biomedical Sciences
Sue is a positive and remarkable person of integrity and honour. She is calm, uplifting, and diplomatic—qualities of an exemplary leader. The students all love her, and she is an excellent teacher. She is a true inspiration to us all. We are so lucky to have you, Sue!

Kylie Fraser, Human Resources
Although she is new to her role as Human Resources Director, Kylie Fraser has already become an invaluable part of the HR team. Her strong work ethic, dedication, and genuine commitment to improving the lives of UPEI employees are evident in everything she does. She brings positive energy each morning and has quickly built meaningful connections in the office and across the campus. With an open-door approach and a willingness to listen, support, and advocate for others, she has created an environment where employees feel valued and heard. HR is truly fortunate to have her leadership, and her impact is already being felt throughout the team.

Christine Greening, Registrar's Office
A special thank you to Christine for her outstanding support and professionalism. She is incredibly responsive, detail-oriented, and always willing to help with questions or requests, no matter how busy she may be. Her friendly approach, reliability, and commitment to excellence make her a pleasure to work with. We truly appreciate all that she does and the positive impact she has on our department and our students. - Steff Taylor

Joel's blog posts for the Teaching and Learning Centre monthly newsletter are consistently practical, concise, and grounded in the realities of teaching. He effectively translates teaching and learning research and insights into clear, actionable steps that instructors can quickly apply in their courses. His writing often emphasizes small, high-impact adjustments that improve students' learning experiences in meaningful ways. The range of topics he has written about is broad, yet his posts are approachable and supportive in tone. Overall, Joel's blog posts reflect his thoughtful commitment to helping instructors with instructional design ideas that are manageable and worthwhile.

Katherine Morriscey, History and Classics – Faculty of Arts
Katie has been a breath of fresh air in the Arts department. We are thrilled to have her with us and have benefited greatly from the wealth of knowledge and experience she has gained through her various roles on campus over the years. Her sunny personality, enthusiasm, and positive energy brighten our days, and we are so grateful to have her as part of our team!

Lisa Perry, Financial Services
Lisa is always willing to dig in and go the extra mile to support UPEI researchers and answer their questions (and my own sometimes complex and no-doubt annoying questions, too!). She does so with a smile and grace. She is both lovely to work with and her extra efforts are very appreciated. Thank you, Lisa! - Stephanie Palmer
