The University of Prince Edward Island extends congratulations to Sarah Forsythe, a standout student-athlete and goaltender with the Panthers women’s hockey program, on being named UPEI’s recipient of the 2026 AUS PepsiCo James Bayer Memorial Scholarship Award.

Forsythe is the 11th recipient to be announced as part of the 2026 AUS PepsiCo James Bayer Memorial Scholarship Award program, which recognizes one outstanding student-athlete from each AUS member university for outstanding achievement in academics, athletics, leadership, sportsmanship, and citizenship. Each recipient receives a $500 scholarship in recognition of their accomplishments.

A four-time U SPORTS Academic All-Canadian, Forsythe has been a key contributor for the Panthers throughout her university career while also dedicating countless hours to mentoring young athletes through UPEI women’s hockey camps and community initiatives. The goaltender from Riverview, New Brunswick, graduated from UPEI with a degree in science and is currently enrolled in the Bachelor of Education program.

Forsythe served as director of the UPEI Women’s Hockey Cub Club, helping inspire the next generation of female hockey players. In January 2026, she launched the UPEI Saves for Mental Health initiative, raising more than $1,000 in support of mental health programs on Prince Edward Island.

Her commitment to mentorship, community engagement, and growing opportunities for young athletes has made her a valued leader both on campus and throughout the community.
