Every week, UPEI Athletics and Recreation recognizes student-athletes for their achievements and contributions to their respective sports. The UPEI Panther Source for Sports Athletes of the Week for February 9–15 are Ingrid Khuong (women’s basketball) and Donovan Arsenault (men’s hockey).

Khuong is a first-year science student from Québec City, Que. She continues to prove she is one of the AUS conference’s top defenders. In the 58-51 win over the St. Francis Xavier X-Women on February 13, the rookie dominated the glass with 22 rebounds—including nine on the offensive end—while adding three steals, a block, six assists, and five points.

“Ingrid was a dominant presence in our win over St. FX to secure third place (in regular season play). Her effort is unmatched,” said Matt Gamblin, UPEI Women's Basketball Panthers head coach. “To pull down 22 rebounds and add six assists as a rookie in a game of that magnitude was truly impressive.”

Arsenault is a first-year arts student from Richmond, PEI. He was a difference-maker in the 6-2 win over the nationally ranked Université de Moncton Aigles Bleus on February 13. The freshman forward struck twice, delivering a clutch offensive performance against one of the top teams in the country.

“Donnie has been outstanding for us all season. His compete level has been high from day one, but in the second half, he has taken his game to another level. You can see the confidence in everything he does right now,” said Forbes MacPherson, UPEI Men’s Hockey Panthers head coach.
