Professor Tim Carroll

The following message was emailed to students, staff, and faculty on December 31, 2025. A celebration of life for friends and members of the University community will be held later in the spring.

Dear UPEI Community,

It is with great sadness that I share the news of the death of Tim Carroll, Associate Professor, McDougall Faculty of Business, on December 27, 2025.

Professor Carroll began teaching at UPEI in 1982, primarily in management and marketing areas for both undergraduate and graduate programs. Prior to joining UPEI, he taught at St. Francis Xavier University for two years. His research interests included the economics of small islands and economic sovereignty, also offering seminars in creative thinking and conflict management. Before embarking on his professorial career, he was manager of the Ontario Vegetable Board for five years and worked as a marketing consultant in Western Canada and PEI.

He led a life of service, serving as a member of the Legislative Assembly of PEI from 1986 to 1996, including as Minister of Agriculture from 1986 to 1988, and as a well-loved and respected faculty member over his 43-year UPEI career. He served the University community with dedication in various capacities, including as a member of the UPEI Board of Governors and the UPEI Senate.

The flags in front of Kelley Memorial Building will fly at half-mast in memory of Professor Carroll. UPEI extends its deepest condolences to Tim's wife Kathy, four children, six grandchildren, and family, friends, and colleagues.

A wake will be held on Sunday, January 4, 2026, at Belvedere Funeral Home. For details, please refer to the official obituary.

Sincerely,

Wendy
