Every week, UPEI Athletics and Recreation recognizes student-athletes for their achievements and contributions to their respective sports. The UPEI Panther Source for Sports Athletes of the Week for October 13–19 are Kayla Batchilder (women’s field hockey) and Robert Orr (men’s hockey).

Batchilder is a third-year kinesiology student from Charlottetown, PEI. She scored the third goal in the 3-0 championship-clinching win over the Dalhousie University Tigers on October 19. She was also named the Atlantic University Field Hockey (AUFH) MVP and a league all-star.

“Kayla is an offensive threat who helped create numerous scoring opportunities in both the semifinal and championship games,” said Lacey MacLauchlan, UPEI Field Hockey head coach. “She played a key role in securing the championship win.”

Orr is a second-year business student from Beaconsfield, Quebec. He scored the game-winning goal in a 3-2 win over a tough Université de Moncton Aigles Bleus squad on October 17.

“Bobby has probably been our most consistent player through exhibition and the first few games of the regular season,” said Forbes MacPherson, UPEI Men’s Hockey head coach. “He is becoming a leader on the team both on and off the ice.”
