Lauren Misener and Jahmal Boursiquot named UPEI Panther Source for Sports Athletes of the Week

Every week, UPEI Athletics and Recreation recognizes student-athletes for their achievements and contributions to their respective sports. The UPEI Panther Source for Sports Athletes of the Week for September 23–29 are Lauren Misener (women’s rugby) and Jahmal Boursiquot (men’s soccer).
Misener is a fourth-year psychology student from Brackley, PEI. She was sensational in the September 27 game against the St. Francis Xavier University X-Women, scoring a game-high 16 points (two tries and three conversions), all in the first half. Misener and the Panthers dominated the X-Women in the first half and took a 26-7 lead at halftime. The match finished in a 26-26 draw.
“Lauren has been the epitome of what this year’s women’s rugby team is about—passionate, joyous, ambitious, fast, gritty. Every word I would use to describe Lauren is what I hope we would describe ourselves as a team,” said UPEI Women’s Rugby head coach Curtis Lauzon.
Boursiquot is a second-year business student from Ottawa, Ontario. He scored three goals in two games this weekend and sits tied for first in goals in the AUS conference with six. The sophomore striker was instrumental in the 4-1 win over Saint Mary's University on September 26, scoring a pair of goals. On September 28 against Acadia University, he scored another goal in a tough 3-2 loss.
“Jahmal led the line as a constant attacking threat, while also contributing defensively by pressing from the front,” said UPEI Men’s Soccer assistant coach Mozzi Gyorio. “He scored goals, linked up well with his teammates, and made forward runs, all of which made him a constant danger to the opposition.”
