Angela Driscoll receives University Award for Exemplary Service

UPEI held its annual Celebration of Colleagues on May 29, 2025, to recognize the achievements of faculty, librarians, clinical veterinary professionals, clinical nursing instructors, sessional instructors, and staff members. Over the coming weeks, UPEI Communications will include profiles of the winners of the University Awards of Excellence in editions of the Campus Connector.

Featured this week is Angela Driscoll, a dedicated member of the aquatic animal resources team at the Atlantic Veterinary College (AVC) who received the University Award for Exemplary Service. Angela has consistently demonstrated exemplary service through her conscientious care of aquatic animals, technical expertise, and unwavering commitment to animal welfare. Her role is highly specialized and demanding, requiring a rare combination of knowledge, responsiveness, and the ability to remain calm under pressure. Whether addressing urgent system issues outside of regular hours or mentoring new facility users, she approaches her work with professionalism, precision, and a deep sense of responsibility.

Beyond her daily responsibilities, Angela is recognized for her positive and collaborative demeanour, her willingness to support research teams and students, and her ability to independently troubleshoot complex issues—often in high-stakes situations. Her contributions significantly enhance the quality and success of aquatic research at UPEI.

In addition to her technical and operational excellence, Angela has provided valuable service to the broader university community through committee work, union representation, and teaching in student labs and external workshops. Her proactive approach to learning, her curiosity about the science that underpins her work, and her continuous pursuit of excellence have made her an indispensable member of the AVC and UPEI community.
