Tammy Ryan receives University Ambassador Award

UPEI held the Celebration of Colleagues on May 29, 2025, to recognize the achievements of faculty, librarians, clinical veterinary professionals, clinical nursing instructors, sessional instructors, and staff members. Over the coming weeks, UPEI Communications will include profiles of the winners of the University Awards of Excellence in editions of the Campus Connector.

Featured this week is Tammy Ryan, Service Worker with Facilities Management, who is the recipient of the University Ambassador Award in recognition of her outstanding dedication, collegial spirit, and exceptional service to the UPEI community. Described by her nominators as a fabulous employee and a huge asset to her department, Tammy exemplifies the spirit of this award through her positivity, dedication, and strong interpersonal skills.

Always arriving with a smile and a friendly greeting, Tammy creates a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere for co-workers and students alike. She connects with everyone—from students in the hallway to directors and staff—and is known across campus for her cheerful attitude and consistent kindness.

Her commitment to the University was especially evident during the deep freeze of February 2023. When pipes burst across campus and help was urgently needed, Tammy responded to the late-night call for assistance. She worked through the night and the following day alongside the maintenance team, staying with them as they repaired the damage, and ensuring the space was safe and clean for everyone.

Tammy goes above and beyond every day, whether supporting her co-workers or uplifting the students she encounters. Her dedication, goodwill, and team spirit embody what it means to be a true University Ambassador.
