UPEI Women’s Rugby made history last month when the team upset St. Francis Xavier in an epic Atlantic University Sport semi-final and beat Acadia to win UPEI's first AUS championship title.

Now making their first-ever appearance at nationals, the UPEI Women’s Rugby Panthers will play the Ottawa Gee-Gees in a quarter-final game at the U SPORTS Women's Rugby Championship at the University of Victoria in Victoria, BC, on Wednesday, November 2, at 9 pm AT. The game will be live streamed on CBC Gem. If they win this game, the Panthers will play for a national medal.

In a message to students, staff, and faculty, Dr. Greg Keefe, UPEI's interim president and vice-chancellor, said, "Please join me in cheering on the UPEI Women’s Rugby team as they compete at their first U SPORTS national championship in Victoria. The team’s success is a great example of determination and perseverance. It is wonderful to see how, under the leadership of AUS Coach of the Year James Voye and AUS MVP Brinten Comeau, their hard work has paid off.

"On behalf of the entire University community, my sincere congratulations to the team and best wishes as they compete at the nationals. We have immense Panther pride in their accomplishments to date!"
