Two newspapers

UPEI’s Robertson Library has added two additional newspapers to its already impressive searchable, online collection at IslandNewspapers.ca. With funding from the National Heritage Digitization Strategy, the library has digitized the Examiner (1847–1900) and PEI’s first French-language newspaper, L’Impartial (1893–1915).

IslandNewspapers.ca is built on the Islandora software platform developed by the Robertson Library and now adopted by more than 300 institutions around the world, supported by an international community of developers and users. The site contains a fully searchable archive of the Island’s main newspapers of record, including 42,000 newly digitized pages from the Examiner and L’Impartial.
