Every week, UPEI Athletics and Recreation recognizes two student-athletes for their achievements and dedication to their respective sports. Congratulations to Jenna Pellerin and Jamesley Jerome, the UPEI Panther Subway Athletes of the Week for November 11 to 17.

Pellerin is a fourth-year forward on the UPEI women’s hockey team and a business student from Halifax, Nova Scotia. Pellerin recorded five assists over two wins, including three in the 4–0 defeat of the AUS-leading Saint Mary’s Huskies. “Jenna had a great week picking up five assists in games against Mount Allison and Saint Mary’s,” said coach Bruce Donaldson. “Jenna played a regular shift, on the power play and on the penalty kill, and clearly played a key role in this week’s success. She used her speed to take away time and space. Her overall work ethic and team play is exactly what a coach looks for from the leadership group.”

Jerome is a second-year forward on the UPEI men’s basketball team and an arts major from Montreal, Quebec. He averaged 13.5 points per game over the weekend, shooting at 81.2 per cent and grabbing eight rebounds against the Dalhousie Tigers. “The Panthers finished the weekend with two difficult losses, but Jamesley provided a little spark,” said coach Darrell Glenn. “In 52 minutes of play, he scored 27 points and pulled down 14 rebounds, and had two blocks and three steals.”

Go Panthers Go!
