A Simple Meal: So that others might eat

Posting Date(s)

On Friday, October 2, 2015, the PEI Quakers in cooperation with the UPEI Chaplaincy Centre will sponsor “A Simple Meal: So That Others Might Eat.” This free meal is open to UPEI university students, faculty and staff, with a suggested donation of $5-10, payable in either cash or canned foods. All foods and/or funds collected will be donated to the UPEI Food Bank.

The meal will take place at the UPEI Chaplaincy Centre from 12 noon to 2:00 pm. The menu will consist of Cuban beans & rice, a salad, beverage and fruit.

During the meal, at 1:00 PM, Ann Wheatley, a founding member and current co-chair of the PEI Food Security Network will speak on the topic of food security and how it impacts Islanders. Ms. Wheatley is also a member of Cooper Institute, where she works on projects related to livable income, inclusion and food sovereignty. Much of her work involves engaging with community, and helping to ensure that all people have a chance to make their voices heard in agency and governmental decisions and policy-making that impact our lives.
