Presentation: Planning for the next global pandemic

Prof. Ross will present on the challenges we face in planning for the next global pandemic. He will also present on his clinical trial work in Northern Samar, The Philippines. The talk is suitable for anyone with broad interests in medicine, public health, international health and community development.
 
Dr. Ross is originally from Nova Scotia. He is presently a tenured Professor of Tropical Medicine and Global Health at Griffith University in Brisbane, Australia. Allen completed a BSc in Biology at Acadia University and MSc in Human Biology at the University of Guelph before proceeding to Brisbane were he completed a MD and an PhD at the University of Queensland. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Pathology (FRCPath) in the United Kingdom and Fellow of the Australian College of Tropical Medicine (FACTM). His current medical research focuses on the control of infectious diseases in Asia. He is presently coordinating a clinical trial in Northern Samar, The Philippines that involves 20,000 residents and 2,000 bovines (water buffalo, cattle) from 22 villages.
