|Background:||These awards were created in loving memory of Heather L. Howatt, RN (1945-2012). Heather was born in Georgetown, Ontario, but called Prince Edward Island her home for 46 years. She graduated from St. Joseph's School of Nursing and was dedicated to preventative medicine, specifically in the area of diabetic education. She served the Prince Edward Island community for 25 years in both Summerside and Charlottetown as a patient-centric nurse who was committed to preventative healthcare. She and her husband, Erwin, have four daughters - Leslie, Alison, Susan and Megan. Heather Howatt touched many individuals in her professional and private life, all of whom were blessed to have known her. These four awards have been established in memory of Heather and the impact she made on her family and those fortunate to have her as part of their lives.|
