| Description: | Awarded to a student who has graduated from a PEI high school and is entering the Faculty of Business, has a minimum average of 75%, and contributes to the community through volunteer work. In the event of two or more equally qualified candidates, financial need will be considered. |
| Background: | Mr. McInnis graduated from St. Dunstan's University in 1951 and received an honorary Doctor of Laws degree from the University of Prince Edward Island in 1995. His life has been devoted to developing and growing the family insurance brokerage firm, Peake and McInnis, of which he continues to serve as president. Involved in community work, Mr. McInnis served on the Board of Governors of Prince of Wales College and continued to serve on the University of Prince Edward Island Board of Governors until 1994. He also served on the Board of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital and the PEI School of Nursing. To honour their father's work in bettering life for Islanders, his sons, Dan and David, created The Wilbert C. McInnis Scholarship in Business through an annual donation of $1,500. |
