Description: Granted to a permanent resident of Prince Edward Island, who volunteers in the health care field, and has demonstrated an exceptional sense of compassion and care. Preference to a student who intends to pursue a career on Prince Edward Island.
Background: Colin F. MacDonald graduated from the University of Prince Edward Island in 1973 with a BBA degree. Colin enjoyed a varied career in banking beginning with TD Bank in Montreal as management trainee, he rapidly moved through the ranks of administration, personal lending, and branch manager. In 1980, Colin moved into commercial credit in Halifax and became manager of commercial credit in the Atlantic regional office. Colin was appointed by TD's Board of Directors in 1990 to assistant general manager and then manager of the Fredericton, NB branch. Under his leadership TD Bank became a major force in the Fredericton market. He transferred to Ontario in 1992 to assume the role of vice president and manager of Guelph Commercial Banking Centre where he spent the last 14 years of his career and assumed the leadership role of District Vice President. As a tribute to his commitment to the principles of leadership and 33 years of dedicated service, TD Bank Ontario's central leadership team established this award. Colin and his wife Brenda have two children and now reside in PEI and Florida.
