His ownership in a regional motor coach group of companies has allowed him to lead the efforts in developing a provincial transit system on PEI and a Maritime intercity line run service for passenger and same day parcel delivery. One of PEI's most recognizable entrepreneurs, Mike believes in diversification and his business ownership interests cross many business sectors including: waste management, retail automotive, equipment sales and service, sales and marketing, and the transportation industry. His group of companies has gross revenue exceeding $20 million annually with a staff of close to 300. Mike also believes in UPEI and its students... since 1988 he feels fortunate he has been able to take his energy and business experience into the classroom of UPEI where he is presently a member of the Faculty of Business teaching the Accounting and Entrepreneurship classes. In 2013 Mike was elected to Fellowship in the Institute of Chartered Accountants of PEI. He received this honour from his colleagues for his outstanding contribution to the CA profession through his extraordinary capabilities as an educator mentor and role model to students considering the CA profession or entrepreneurship as a career. To quote one of his many students: ?Mike is a leader in the community in terms of business and sustainability. His lectures are inspiring and relatable. He tells it how it is in the real world" which is refreshing from all the usual textbook jargon. Mike is always willing to help a student in need and truly cares about the success of his students during their tenure at the university and after. Mike?s most inspirational characteristic is his charisma and initiative. I?ve never met someone with such a drive and passion for what he does.
