The Faculty of Business at the University of Prince Edward Island has openings for sessional instructors to teach in the Executive MBA Program for the Fall 2023 semester. These positions are subject to final budgetary approval.

Please note: the courses offered below will be taught in person, unless otherwise specified as an online course.

BUS 7270 - Negotiation and Conflict Management

This course teaches the dynamics of conflict in the workplace and the use of negotiation and conflict management skills to effectively manage such situations. Through a combination of lectures, discussion sessions, and role-play exercises, participants in this course will learn and apply essential negotiation and dispute resolution strategies and approaches. Course objectives include developing a toolkit of negotiation and conflict management approaches and principles, becoming proficient at translating negotiation theory into practice, and improving self-awareness, including strengths and weaknesses as a negotiator. This course would be delivered by a sessional instructor.

BUS 7850 - Special Topics: Project Leadership for the Future

Project leadership focuses on leading employees toward the corporate vision, planning for future changes, and anticipating challenges and opportunities while enabling and inspiring creative, critical, and innovative thinking in others. A competent project leader steers a team toward synergistic success by bringing people together to maximize efforts and achieve a common goal. In addition, a successful project leader supports people in formulating and implementing solutions for the constantly changing business world, considering advanced technologies and addressing ESG requirements and societal impact. This practical, hands-on course combines current project management tools and techniques with the skills to lead and achieve strategic goals. The course also examines the challenges of leading virtual, global, and diverse teams in a digital environment and the role of artificial intelligence in project leadership. This course would be delivered by a sessional instructor.

For an MBA course, we seek applicants with a strong combination of qualifications and experience. Minimum educational credentials include a PhD and/or Master’s degree in a relevant discipline. In addition, advanced senior management experience in the course topic is preferred and is a requirement for applicants without a PhD. Prior teaching experience, and knowledge and familiarity with “Evidence-based Management” principles will be considered assets.

Preference will be given to the qualified candidates with seniority on the UPEI Sessional Roster and full-time and term contract Faculty Members of the Academic unit.

These are individual courses, and we are accepting applications for each course. Applicants must identify the course in the application. Applicants are encouraged to apply for more than one course if they meet the qualifications. We thank all applicants for their interest, but only those candidates that are shortlisted will be contacted.
