2008 - 2009 Year in Review
MAPUS Events
~ During the summer months and into the fall MAPUS continued it's fight to retain the three disabled parking spaced behind
Main Building. We unfortunately lost the battle in September.
~ A "Welcome Back Meet and Greet" was held in the first week of September to welcome friends both new and old back to
new year of classes.
~ Our Student Handbooks were again available in September to our membership. The are proving, once again, to be a
great organizational tool and are greatfully appreciated by the students.
~ In October one of our members, Trudy Chaloner, graciously agreed to step into the Vice-Presidents position, left
vacant by the resignation of Ray Keating, who has moved to Yellowknife.
~ Our annual "Christmas Pot Luck" was held on December 13th. It was held, once again in the Faculty Lounge. A
good time was had by all despite inclement weather.
~ We held pizza days in each semester and also a sandwich lunch day in the second semester.
~ In addition we have inaugurated a monthly birthday cake to celebrate all the members birthdays, although you don't
have to have a bithday to enjoy the cake.
~ Our first semester Bursary was awarded to a deserving student. Congratulations we hope it is of assistance to you.
~ MAPUS again made a donation to the Campus Cupboard througth Father Charlie at the Chaplaincy Center.
~ We got a new computer from Dell in Februsry. After having problems with our old one it was thought best to order
one through Computer Services and then they would take care of the repairs instead of having to send it out to
be fixed.
~ Our second semester Bursary was given out in March. Again congratulations to the recipient.
~ Our "End of the Year Party" was held at the Charlottetown Hotel and ll who attended had a great time.
~ MAPUS elections were held in April and the following is our new Executive: President - Afton Thacker,
Vice President - Trudy Chaloner, Treasurer - Laura Mark, and Senate Rep - Margaret Doyle.
