Campus Notices

Dalhousie University Faculty of Medicine will be on the UPEI campus to deliver information about the process of applying to medical school. Any student who has ever considered a career in medicine should attend and learn more about what is required in the application process. Students from all faculties and year levels are encouraged to attend.

This event begins today at noon in Kelley 234.

IT Systems and Services has completed the rollout of a new antivirus and workstation security application, ESET Endpoint Security, which has replaced the previous product, Kaspersky.

If you have a UPEI Windows workstation and still have the old Kaspersky application installed (indicated by a red “K” icon by the clock) you will need to restart your computer to complete the installation process (which runs automatically). Please ensure your computer is connected to the wired UPEI network before restarting your PC.

If you run into any issues with the ESET installation please contact the ITSS Help Desk at helpdesk@upei.ca or 902-566-0465. If you use a UPEI Mac workstation, please submit a request to the ITSS Help Desk requesting to have ESET installed on your Mac.

How do you know if you have ESET installed? You will see a blue & white “e” icon on your system tray (by the clock). If you still have the old Kaspersky antivirus you will see a red “K” icon instead.

It is very important that you update your antivirus and security applications, otherwise your computer will be susceptible to viruses and other security breaches, which can also spread to other computers throughout the university.

A few examples of products to refrain from wearing or using are: colognes/perfumes, body sprays, lotions, hair care products, hand/body soaps and lotions, shaving cream, sun screen, laundry soap, fabric softeners, air fresheners, scented candles and Aromatic Oils (used in aromatherapy).
