Degree framing services are offered by the UPEI Alumni Association; it's a great gift idea for graduates. Visit the secure order site to view the five models of frames that are available. Each frame includes a mat with the UPEI coat of arms embossed in gold. You are encouraged to place your orders immediately so your desired frame is available. Frames may be picked up at the reception immediately following convocation ceremonies at the Wanda Wyatt Dining Hall. AVC Graduates may pick-up their frames at their post-convocation reception in the AVC Learning Commons. The UPEI Bookstore will be closing at 12:00pm on Tuesday April 28th and will be closed for the full day on Wednesday April 29th for their yearly inventory count.
Training is required to carry out these responsibilities: By ground - A person who handles (see definition below), offers for transport, or transports dangerous goods must: (a) be adequately trained and hold a training certificate; or (b) perform those activities in the presence and under the direct supervision of a person who is adequately trained and who holds a training certificate in accordance with the regulations. Handling - is defined as loading, unloading, or packing dangerous goods...for the purposes of, in the course of, or following transportation. (Note: it has been clarified that you do not need to have training to unpack dangerous goods that has already been received by Shipping & Receiving. WHMIS training covers this aspect.) By air - (IATA regulations): No person may offer or accept dangerous goods for air transport unless those goods are properly classified, documented, certified, packaged, marked, labeled, and in the condition for shipment required by the IATA regulations. Training is required to carry out these responsibilities. Please note that there is also, specialized courses for Infectious TDG training for Ground and Air which deals specifically with handling biological agents. Training courses offered will depend on the needs across campus. It is expected that training will be provided by Atlas Compliance in May or June. Faculty Recognition Night will be held Wednesday, May 6, beginning at 7:00 pm. (Reception: with live music, 6:30 pm) at the Culinary Institute. This event honours the winners of the Hessian Award for Excellence in Teaching and the UPEI Merit Award for Scholarly Achievement as well as those FA Members who are retiring. Tickets are $50.00 each (with a subsidized price of $25.00 for FA members and their guests), and can be pre-ordered at the Faculty Association Office, SDU Main Building, Room 315, Ext. 0438. Deadline for reserving tickets is Friday, noon, May 1, 2015. Faculty Recognition Night is co-sponsored by the UPEI Faculty Association and the Office of the President.

An Emergency First Aid, CPR, and AED Training session will be held on Wednesday, May 27. The training is covered by the Health and Safety Committee budget. Dr. Carolyn Thorne will present on Tuesday, April 28, 2015, at 9:00 am in Memorial Hall, Room 417. Dr. Agnes Gajewski will present on Wednesday, April 29, 2015, at 1:30 pm in Memorial Hall, Room 417. Presentations will be on the topic "Differentiated Instruction and Inclusion: Prospects and challenges for the future." Everyone is welcome to attend.

From June 26 to 30, the Jeux de l’Acadie (Acadian Games) will be held in Charlottetown, including on the UPEI campus. The Games are a combination of sport and cultural activities for Acadian and francophone youth from the Atlantic Provinces that promote youth development, the Acadian culture, and the French language. The University will host officials and members of the various missions in residence housing and for meetings, as well as be the venue for a number of sport activities. It is a large-scale event that would not be possible without the support of volunteers. There a number of volunteer roles available. While bilingualism is an asset, English-only speaking volunteers are welcome to register. ​In order to communicate effectively, individuals have to master the techniques of effective listening and self expression. These skills involve verbal and non-verbal behaviours as well as the ability to speak with persuasion and confidence. This session will look at both sides of the communication equation. This session offers helpful strategies to: · Develop techniques to communicate assertively. · Speak effectively when conversing about conflict. · Recognize the barriers that can get in the way of listening. The Effective Communication at Work session has been rescheduled for Tuesday, April 28th from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm in Andrew Hall, Room 142. UPEI student-athletes are showing that “Panthers care” at SUBWAY® locations across the province today as part of SUBWAY® Cares for Kids Day. The event is an initiative of SUBWAY® Canada in partnership with Children's Miracle Network. On Thursday, April 23, SUBWAY® Restaurants on PEI will be accepting donations in support of the Maritime’s local Children’s Miracle Network member hospital, the IWK Health Centre. Approximately 30 members of UPEI Panther teams will be in SUBWAY® Restaurants, from Summerside to Montague and from 11:30 am - 1 pm and 4 - 5:30 pm, handing out free cookie coupons to thank patrons who have donated to the campaign.
