The University of Prince Edward Island (UPEI) is seeking applications from qualified individuals for the position of Finance Officer.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Working within the Comptroller’s Office, this position will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Preparation of financial analysis and reports with attention to details and deadlines, including:
    • Data queries using various software
    • Building new report templates
    • Account analysis and reconciliations
    • Preparation of journal entries
    • Preparation of year-end working papers
    • Support year-end audit processes
  • Provide support to budget processes, including:
    • Preparation of budget reports
    • Preparation of budget changes
  • Provide support to other Finance staff as requested
  • Other related duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Successful completion of a two-year post-secondary program in accounting or office-related course work with related work experience in accounting, or an equivalent combination
  • Solid knowledge and experience with accounting procedures and functions
  • Excellent professional, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Detailed knowledge and experience working with computerized accounting systems, spreadsheets and database query programs
  • Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Experience in a University setting is not required but would be considered an asset
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
