The University of Prince Edward Island is located on the unceded land of the Mi’kmaq Nation, of the Wabanaki Confederacy, in the traditional district of Epekwitk.  The Office of the President is seeking candidates for a Program Manager to provide leadership in the implementation of the University’s Action Plan in response to the UPEI Review.

This position will work collaboratively with internal and external individuals to lead the implementation of the Action Plan, and to facilitate reporting on and auditing of the implementation. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Reporting to the University President the successful candidate is responsible to lead the implementation and oversight of the UPEI Action Plan.

Duties will include:

  • Project Planning: Collaborate with key stakeholders to understand the goals and objectives outlined in the UPEI Action Plan and lead the development of annual implementation plans for execution
  • Execution Oversight: Lead the implementation of the Action Plan, ensuring that timelines are met, and milestones are achieved
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with various departments and teams to ensure effective communication and coordination throughout the execution process
  • Risk Management: Identify potential risks and challenges in the execution of the Action Plan and develop proactive strategies to mitigate them
  • Monitoring and Evaluation: Establish monitoring and evaluation mechanisms in alignment with industry and audit standards to track progress, assess outcomes, and make necessary adjustments to ensure the successful completion of the Action Plan
  • Reporting: Prepare regular progress reports for senior management and stakeholders, highlighting achievements, challenges, and recommended adjustments
  • Audit: Support departments in preparing for annual audits and ensure necessary documentation and reporting are in place for auditors
  • Other duties as required

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business Administration, Project Management, or a related field
  • CPA or equivalent would be considered an asset
  • Proven experience (5+ years) in program management, with a successful track record of leading the execution of complex initiatives
  • Strong understanding of project planning, project management methodologies, and implementation strategies
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders
  • Exceptional problem-solving and decision-making abilities, especially in high-pressure situations
  • Proficient in project management tools and software
  • Proven experience in internal or external audit
  • Familiarity with complex institutional structures is required, with experience in higher education institutions and their unique challenges an asset
  • Experience working in a similar role within a government, academic or research institution (preferred)
  • Project management designations would be considered an asset
