Salary:

$63,932 to $70,176 per annum, prorated to time and term, as per CUPE 1870

The Department of Biology of the University of Prince Edward Island is seeking a Laboratory Coordinator to manage and instruct laboratory periods in field-related courses (that may include but are not limited to Environmental Biology and Ecology) and laboratory-based courses (that may include but are not limited to Genetics and Physiology).

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Organizing travel to field sites for laboratory activities
  • Coordinating and instructing laboratory periods. The coordinator is also responsible for all aspects of laboratory assessments
  • Interviewing, hiring, and supervising staff for multiple laboratory sections
  • Designing original educational materials to meet the instructional needs of the course(s)
  • Assisting with other lab-related duties as assigned by the course instructors or Chair of the Department

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • B.Sc. in Biology, with a strong background in ecology, physiology, and genetics
  • B.Ed. or M.Sc. would be a definite asset
  • Excellent scientific communication skills
  • Demonstrated experience instructing biology laboratory periods
