The Study & Stay Program Coordinator is responsible for mapping existing on-campus supports, identifying gaps, and developing new initiatives to support a cohort of 100+ end year international students in achieving the goal of retaining them in Prince Edward Island post-graduation, as outlined in the Population Growth Strategy of PEI.

Working in a fast-paced environment with multiple concurrent deadlines and various stakeholders, the Study & Stay Program Coordinator must be a skilled planner with a strong client-service orientation. The successful candidate will work closely with all of Prince Edward Island’s publicly funded post-secondary educational institutions, various provincial and federal government departments, and partners from around the world.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Reporting to the International Liaison Office / Manager, Office of Study Abroad and International Partnerships, the ideal candidate will:

  • Coordinate the recruitment and selection of the 100+ final year of study, student participants
  • Conduct an assessment of each retention cohort student to identify their unique capabilities and any challenges he/she may face
  • Plan and execute orientations, conferences and/or retreats
  • Work with internal and external partners to plan and deliver various workshops throughout the year
  • Develop mechanisms, programs and initiatives to ensure each student is accessing appropriate resources at their respective campus
  • Organize additional, culturally relevant supports as needed
  • Provide ongoing, individualized support, advising and mentoring of students and monitoring their progress
  • Promote program via social media, info sessions, and other avenues
  • In coordination with the International Liaison Officer, responsible for project budget and account oversight
  • Be available to work some evening and weekend programs/events throughout the year
  • Perform such other duties as may be required

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Post-secondary degree, with three years of relevant experience working with international students and promoting Prince Edward Island
  • International student support and organization experience, including scheduling, budgeting, managing multiple priorities, problem solving and reporting
  • Knowledge of PEI’s education and training sector
  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written) with meticulous attention to detail, organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to anticipate issues, with confidence to make independent decisions
  • Excellent interpersonal and social skills with a professional and effective manner in working with the public, university staff & faculty, college staff and international contacts
  • A valid driver’s license and a valid passport along with an ability to travel overseas
  • Highly proficient in MS Windows 7 (PC) or higher and Office 365, particularly Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook. Comfortable with new technologies and managing documents in a cloud environment
  • Experience publishing content and tracking results on social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube. etc.
  • Experience in marketing and communications, event planning and coordination
  • Experience in government relations, community networking; and partnership building
