The Department of Applied Human Sciences of the University of Prince Edward Island is seeking a Foods & Nutrition Laboratory Instructor to manage and instruct laboratory periods for Foods and Nutrition courses and assist with preparing for accreditation.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Instruct laboratories in the Foods and Nutrition program for the required courses Foods & Nutrition 3510 Nutritional Assessment and Foods & Nutrition 4610 Clinical Nutrition II
  • Responsibilities include setting up and delivering weekly laboratory sessions (one session per course/per week)
  • Attending class, when feasible
  • Grading
  • Other lab-related duties as assigned by the course instructors or Chair of the Department
  • Assisting faculty with course mapping and other tasks related to accreditation

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Registered dietitian in PEI (or eligibility to be registered with the PEI College of Dietitians)
  • Experience working as a Registered Dietitian with responsibility for medical nutrition therapy of inpatients
  • Experience prescribing and monitoring both enteral and parenteral nutrition interventions and writing PES statements is an asset
  • Teaching experience at the post-secondary level is an asset
  • Experience using a variety of dietary assessment methods
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
