The UPEI Faculty of Education is seeking up to two education students to help facilitate school-age programs which are both part of the Literacy & Numeracy Outreach Project.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Participate in training and program development sessions
  • Plan and deliver arts & play-based after-school tutoring sessions to help support the literacy and numeracy needs of school age children
  • Work closely with families to foster a sense of community and a supportive, active learning environment

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Successful candidate will be enrolled in a UPEI Bachelor of Education  program
  • Previous experience and or training with early years and early childhood education
  • Knowledge of early numeracy and early literacy development
  • Understanding of social & emotional learning
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaborate with a team
  • An understanding of play pedagogy, project-based learning and holistic education would be considered an asset
  • A Bachelor of Education degree will be considered an asset

A valid driver’s license and transportation are required to travel to different program sites.

Priority will be given to University of Prince Edward Island students in accordance with Recruitment, Selection, Hiring and Employment Policies and the Procedures manual.
