Under the mentorship of the Dean of the Faculty of Graduate Studies at UPEI, the Graduate Research Assistant will be responsible for assisting with the preparation of proposals in support of the launch of the new interdisciplinary Master’s in Cleantech Leadership and supporting the development of programming and communications for graduate students at UPEI. The successful candidate will work approximately 10-15 hours per week.

Duties include:

  • Assist in researching, identifying, collecting, and organizing information and data from secondary sources, in support of preparing a proposal for a new graduate program (to submit to academic review bodies e.g. UPEI Senate)
  • Support the preparation of a ‘New program proposal’, including developing tables, charts, and other methods of communicating data and information
  • Support the development, coordination and delivery of professional development and social programming for current graduate students
  • Collaborate in the development of communications and distributing information to graduate students using both current methods & exploring new methods to increase effectiveness (e.g., developing social media channels, expanding website contents)
  • Other duties as required

Qualifications

  • Must be a student enrolled in a graduate program at UPEI
  • Strong communication skills, with emphasis on clear and concise written communication for professional purposes and able to adjust writing based on feedback
  • Experience with MS Office and Google Suites, with the ability to organize information using templates in MS Word and Excel
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills, good attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently
  • Knowledge of cleantech or climate change (science, policy) would be a definite asset
  • Event planning experience would be an asset
     

Priority will be given to University of Prince Edward Island students in accordance with Recruitment, Selection, Hiring and Employment Policies and the Procedures manual.
