Under the guidance of the primary investigator, Dr. Margie Burns, assistant professor in the Faculty of Nursing at UPEI, the Graduate Research Assistant will be responsible for scholarly activities related to a research project titled “Connecting Families to Critically Ill Relatives During Interhospital Transfers.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under the guidance of the primary investigator, the Graduate Research Assistant will assist with research activities including participant recruitment, quantitative and qualitative data collection and analysis, data transcription, report writing, and mentorship of an undergraduate student research assistant.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Current enrollment in a UPEI graduate program and ability to attend in-person research meetings and site visits
  • Experience in quantitative and qualitative data collection and analysis is an asset
  • Demonstrated critical thinking ability, initiative, good organizational skills, flexibility, ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to accurately follow instruction and attention to detail are important skills in this position.
  • Reliable and dependable
  • Experience in paramedicine, critical care patient transfers and family care is an asset
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills are assets

Priority will be given to University of Prince Edward Island students in accordance with Recruitment, Selection, Hiring and Employment Policies and the Procedures manual.
