The Department of Development and Alumni Engagement seeks an experienced, highly organized, motivated person with a positive attitude and excellent written and verbal communications skills to serve as Administrative Assistant to the Executive Director and department.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • The individual will report to the Executive Director and be the first point of contact for the Executive Director's office and responsible for all support functions of that position

The Administrative Assistant will also:

  • Support departmental efforts in executing multi-million-dollar fundraising campaigns and related alumni and development processes
  • Responsible for budget tracking and reconciliations
  • Responsible for composition and preparation of correspondence
  • Assist in relationship building for UPEI
  • Maintain electronic and historic records
  • Support the overall management and success of the department

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Grade 12 graduation plus completion of a recognized post-secondary program in business/office administration with two years related progressive experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and accuracy in all communications
  • Excellent knowledge of grammar and composition
  • Excellent organizational abilities
  • History of being highly motivated
  • History of handling confidential information
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Ability to quickly acquire knowledge of UPEI and its operations
  • Willingness to work some flexible hours to accommodate functions that are the nature of the department's outreach work
  • Fundraising and/or volunteer experience is an asset
  • Certified Professional Secretary (CPS) or Certified Administrative Professional (CAP) designation is considered an asset
  • Experience with Raiser's Edge software is considered an asset
