UPEI Fencing Club member Spencer McGregor had a successful weekend at the UNB Shield tournament in Fredericton, March 12-13. 

Dr. Alaa Abd-El-Aziz, President and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Prince Edward Island, announced today the members of the Advisory Council for UPEI’s new School of Mathematical and Computational Sciences. 

University of Prince Edward Island Women’s Soccer Coach Graeme McDonald is pleased to announce that Saint John, New Brunswick native Raine Easton has committed to the Panthers for 2016–17.

The Island Studies Lecture Series continues Tuesday, March 22, with a lecture by Dr. Jim Randall entitled “Learning About Islands: Writing an Undergraduate Textbook in Island Studies.” The talk begins at 7 pm in the Faculty Lounge of UPEI’s SDU Main Building.

UPEI co-op students will be recognized for their achievements in cooperative education at the annual Co-op Awards Ceremony on Thursday, March 17, from 4-5:30 p.m., in the Robertson Library. 

University of Prince Edward Island Women’s Hockey Coach Bruce Donaldson is pleased to announce that Orleans, ON, native Kaylee Dufresne has committed to the Panthers for 2016–17. Dufresne currently attends Brewster Academy in Wolfeboro, NH.

UPEI is participating in a mental health initiative with universities across Atlantic Canada called the MoodCheck Challenge. 

The UPEI Panther Subway Athletes of the Week for the week of February 29-March 6 are Kiera Rigby, Women’s Basketball, and Milorad Sedlarevic, Men’s Basketball. On a weekly basis, UPEI Athletics and Recreation recognizes these talented student-athletes for their hard work and dedication to their respective sports.

The UPEI Wind Symphony will perform a recital of “Contemporary Works for Wind Band” this Saturday, March 12 at 3:30 pm at the Paul O'Regan Hall at the Halifax Central Library.

The University of Prince Edward Island extends its condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of Reverend Brady Smith who passed away on March 6, 2016 at the age of 90. He received an honorary Doctor of Laws degree from the University in 2001.
