1. Department heads and chairs are reminded that the University's fiscal year-end is April 30, 2013. To ensure that 2012-13 expenditures are recorded in the 2012-13 operating budget, all external requisitions (both electronic and hard copy) to be processed for purchase orders must be received by Procurement Services no later than 12 noon Friday, April 19, 2013. Our auditors require that goods charged to the 2012-13 budget must be invoiced and received on or before April 30, 2013 and as such, requisitions will be reviewed for acceptability prior to the April 19, 2013 cut-off date. 2. Goods invoiced or received after April 30, 2013 will be charged to the next fiscal year (2013-14). The April 19, 2013 cut-off date will be strictly enforced, so please make your plans now for the remaining weeks of the 2012-13 fiscal year. 3. The deadline for submission of hours for students or other hourly rate employees to be charged against the 2012-13 fiscal year is noon, Wednesday, April 24, 2013. Hours submitted after this date will be charged to the 2013-14 fiscal year. Your cooperation on this matter will be appreciated by all concerned.
Shiv veer Singh Chauhan, chemistry MSc student, UPEI will present a seminar on Thursday, April 11 at 12:30 pm. The presentation is entitled “Microbubbles Generation and Their Application In Diagnostics & In Therapeutics." The seminar will be held in Room 128 in the KC Irving Chemistry Centre.

Sara Eisler, University of New Brunswick, Science Atlantic/CIC Speaker Tour will present a seminar on Wednesday, April 10 at 12:30 pm. The presentation is entitled “Isoindolinones: a New Class of Multi-Stable Molecular Switches and Conductive Oligomers." The seminar will be held in Room 128 in the KC Irving Chemistry Centre.
Dr. Paul Harrison "The Biosynthesis of b-Lactones" Date: Friday, April 12, 2013 Location: The McCain Foundation Learning Commons (286A North), AVC Time: 10:00 am Dr. Harrison received his undergraduate degree from the University of Oxford and his PhD from the University of Alberta. He did a postdoctoral fellowship at Brown University, with Dr. David Cane. He has been a faculty member at McMaster University since 1989. His research interests include chemical mimics of polyketide assembly, biosynthesis of acyltetramic acids and beta‑lactones, and twisted amides. Everyone welcome!
