There are a limited number of designated parking permits available and they will be sold on a first-come first-served basis. Montgomery and Her Classic," edited by Jane Ledwell and Jean Mitchell and published by McGill-Queen’s University Press. The event will take place on Thursday, June 20 at 7:00 pm in UPEI’s Faculty Lounge, Main Building. No admission fee. UPEI’s Conference Services team is pleased to share with the campus that our summer operations are underway and are looking forward to a busy 2013 season! Throughout the summer, UPEI will play host to conferences, sports teams, international student groups, spiritual gatherings, academic camps and more! Our campus has already played host to Atlantic Province Library Association 2013 Conference, welcoming delegates from all across the east coast to our residences, dining hall, and various buildings throughout campus. On Sunday May 26, UPEI has welcomed 90 students to the Early Explore Summer Language Program who you will see throughout campus until early July, when we can expect a whole new group for another session! Chartwell's has reopened the Wanda Wyatt Dining Hall for meal periods, and are pleased to continue the $9 lunch deal for faculty and staff between 11:30 am and 1:00 pm. Food is served in an all-you-care-to-eat format offering two hot items daily, a build-your-own sandwich bar, full salad bar, pizza and garlic fingers, dessert bar, as well as tea, coffee, pop, and juice! Let them know at the cash register that you would like a Frequency Card. Eat 10 lunches and get the eleventh free! As we welcome various visitors and new faces to our campus, please make every effort to extend a warm UPEI welcome! The UPEI Alumni Association is now accepting nominations for their Distinguished Alumni Awards. These awards are presented to graduates for their outstanding contribution to knowledge, the arts, the community, the university, or humanity. The Inspiring Young Alumni Award is presented to a graduate, under the age of 40, who has shown outstanding determination in achieving success at a young age. Deadline for submissions is June 24, 2013 and nomination forms are available at remember.upei.ca/distinguished For more information contact Anthony Gill at alumni@upei.ca or (902) 566-0761.
A service will be held in memory of our colleague Janice Robertson on Friday, May 31 at 2:00 pm in the Chi-Wan Young Sports Centre gymnasium and led by campus minister, Sister Sue Kidd. As part of the service, there will be an informal opportunity to share stories about Janice. All are welcome to attend. Once funeral arrangements are confirmed, details will be relayed as soon as possible to the University community.

We still have a couple of spots available for: the pilates class with fitness instructor Tracey Gairns-Brioux on Thursdays from noon-12:45 pm (beginning May 30), TRX suspension training with fitness instructor Stephanie Knickle-Currie on Tuesdays from noon-12:45 pm (beginning June 4), and bootcamp with Tracey on Thursdays from 6:30-7:15 am (beginning June 6). Fee for each session (6 classes/session) is $55 plus hst for Chi-Wan Young Sports Centre members and $65 plus hst for non-members. To register, stop by the Panther Central desk. Hello fellow graduate students, Here are the nominations for the executive and rep positions on the GSA that have been received thus far: President: Eric McCauley and Stu Hooft VP Finance: Jessica Willis VP External: Valerie Campbell Business Representative: Krystal Mayne Education Representative: Alaina Roach AVC Representative: Sarah McConnachie No one is running for the other positions. However, this is not to say that I will not accept other nominations. If I receive a nomination for a currently vacant position between now and this Friday, May 31 at 12 pm, the name will be entered into the running for election. Here is a list of the currently uncontested positions: • Vice President Internal • Media Relations • Science Representative • Arts Representative • Nursing Representative As of now until next Sunday evening (June 2, 8 pm), the campaigning period is open, so I would encourage the candidates to talk to fellow grad students about the GSA, the position they are running for, and why they should vote for them. Voting will take place through your UPEI campus login on June 3 and 4.
From May 29-June 7, the Registrar's Office will be holding first-year registration for all students beginning at UPEI in September 2013. This registration will take place in two separate sessions--9:00 am and 1:00 pm–-daily in the language lab of the Robertson Library. There will also be a parents' lounge in the current periodicals study area on the library’s second floor.
