The Biosafety Committee will meet earlier than usual in the month of October. The next deadline for submitting Biosafety Protocols including new applications, renewals and/or amendments for review at this meeting is Friday September 20 2013. Please ensure that you download and use the current forms from http://research.upei.ca/forms. Use Adobe Reader to complete the forms. Submit one copy of the original protocol with signatures to 200 Kelley Memorial Building. Those protocols received after the deadline will be reviewed the following month. This year marks the 50th anniversary of Korea-Canada Diplomatic Relations. It's formally recognized by both governments as “the Year of Korea in Canada” and “the Year of Canada in Korea.” A special presentation by Mr. Hee-yong Cho, South Korean Ambassador to Canada will take place on Thursday, September 12, 3:30–4:20 pm, in the Faculty Lounge, Main Building. Mr. Cho will introduce the past, present, and future of Korea-Canada diplomatic relations and discuss a strategic partnership between two nations by identifying new ways to enhance South Korea’s relationships with Atlantic Canada. He will educate UPEI students, faculty, staff, and the general public about this vital topic and its international implications for educational, business, or career opportunities and benefits in PEI or South Korea. The presentation is co-hosted by UPEI's Faculty of Arts—Asian Studies, History, and Political Science. Animal Welfare in Practice - Companion Animal Behaviour SJDAWC and AW Club, September 13-14; lecture theatre A The 9th annual “Animal Welfare: In Practice” conference will focus on common behaviour issues in dogs and cats, their impact on the welfare of pets, and the importance of positive interactions in the prevention and management of such problems. There will be a public talk on Friday evening (“My dog just tore down my blinds…. and other behavior issues in dogs and cats”) and clinical presentations on Saturday on treatment of behavior problems in dogs and in cats (Dr. Barbara Sherman), and pharmacology of drugs used (Dr. Sandra McConkey).
