Esther Wohlgemut

Meet Dr. Esther Wohlgemut, English Professor and member of the Applied Communication, Leadership, and Culture program's Steering Committee

Esther Wohlgemut teaches courses in nineteenth-century British literature and literary theory in the Department of English.

Dr. Wohlgemut is also a faculty member on the Steering Committee for the UPEI Program for Applied Communication, Leadership, and Culture. To this program she brings her love of teaching and her intellectual interest in asking the sorts of questions that run across traditional disciplinary lines. She believes that the combination of applied skills and cultural knowledge offered by the ACLC program will help students develop the renewable competencies that they will need for long-term success in our changing world.

She is the author of Romantic Cosmopolitanism (Palgrave Macmillan 2009). Her work has also appeared in journals such as Studies in English LiteratureEuropean Romantic Review, and Romanticism on the Net. Her current research project investigates the representation of secret societies in late eighteenth- and early nineteenth-century British writing.
