This web site is being developed to support a university level multidisciplinary course called Energy Environment and the Economy with special emphasis on promoting sustainable
energy in small islands. The design of the site divides this complex, multidisciplinary subject into a large number of pages with an overview or outline of a sub topic with a number of links to other pages
or sites with more detailed information. Thus the site should also be useful for training and education at other levels, public awareness and those responsible for making policies and decisions to build
sustainable energy futures for islands.
The site provides some basic information resources on
Sources of energy such as fossil fuels and conversion of
energy from one form to another such as photovoltaics
Storage and Transmission of Energy
End Uses and Conservation
Environmental Impacts
Economic Implications and analysis
The site also provides other
materials such as assignments, tests and instructions for students to assist them with their web projects.
A list of all the student web projects with links to view each project is also provided.
Finally, the site provides an extensive webliography of sustainable energy projects relevant to small islands.
The buttons on the
navigation bar on the left show the other pages on the same level of the site while the navigation bar at the bottom of the page shows the pages on the level immediately above. The annotated links in the main body
of the page show the pages one level below (the children of the current page) |
