May-mester in Ireland

Spend your May-mester in Ireland

Studying Religious Studies in Ireland June 15–July 2, 2019

Ok, this one slips into June but you could tack it onto the Shakespeare program and do both! (You'll be in the area… well… sort of).

Join the Religious Studies department on the shores of Western Ireland for an incredible experiential-learning opportunity in Glencolmcille, Country Donegal, Ireland. Over two weeks, students will live, learn and experience against the backdrop of the rugged terrain and coastline of Ireland. With more than 17 hours of daylight during the early summer months, each day will be filled with class, hikes, beach excursions, music and storytelling, and a chance to converse in Gaelic over a pint of Guinness at the local pub. Students will be housed in cottages nestled into the Irish countryside. Learn to make a turf fire and get ready to step back in time and experience the beauty of Ireland!

The course, "Ireland: Christianity and Culture," explores the early Celtic and Christianity spirituality in a place where Saint Columba established a monastery before bringing Christianity to Scotland in the 6th century. No prerequisites are required-except a desire to learn with your head, hands, and heart in an exceptional place.
