The Comprehensive School Health Research (CSHR) Group, a multi-disciplinary research unit located in the Faculty of Nursing at the University of Prince Edward Island, invites applications from qualified individuals for the position of Research Coordinator. Working collaboratively with the Co-Investigators, the Research Coordinator will be primarily responsible for coordinating the implementation of the 2018-19 Canadian Student Tobacco Alcohol and Drugs Survey. The Research Coordinator will also play a key role in supporting the advancement of school health research in PEI.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Recruiting school boards and schools to participate in the 2018-19 CSTADS survey
• Communicating with school boards, school staff, parents, students, and government/NGO stakeholders
• Coordinating data collection scheduling and the implementation of all data collection preparation activities in recruited schools, according to project protocols 
• Working closely with staff to implement school data collections (requires travel to schools across the province)
• Supervising research staff, including planning and managing their daily tasks to assist in preparing for, and implementing, all school data collections
• Facilitating knowledge exchange with school, government, and community stakeholders (e.g., preparing presentations, responding to information requests, engaging partners in the development of new research dissemination tools, etc.)
• Assisting in the preparation of ethics applications; funding proposals; abstracts and conference posters/presentations; development and writing of peer-reviewed literature; and other duties as required

QUALIFICATIONS:

• A university degree (Master’s degree preferred) in a related field (e.g., nursing, health promotion, social sciences, or education), preferably with courses and/or experience in research design, implementation, and methods
• Demonstrated abilities working on social science research projects, including experience with quantitative data collection methods
• Works highly independently and can follow detailed protocols with minimal supervision
• Excellent ability to plan, coordinate and establish work priorities
• Superior time management and organizational skills
• Superior written and oral communication skills
• Computer skills include a working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point; comfortable using an online system to coordinate and implement a research project
• Must have access to a vehicle and a valid driver’s license
• Must be able to obtain a successful police background/criminal-record check
• Familiarity with adolescent health behaviour and experience or knowledge of the PEI school system is an asset
• French language skills are an asset
