Reporting to the Manager of Financial Services, the Student Financial Accounts Administrator will be responsible for the day-to day operations of the Student Zone located in the Registrar’s Office at UPEI.  The Administrator will have daily managerial responsibility for UPEI’s Student Accounts front counter staff. These duties include management of customer service functions related to student financial transactions and course inquiries, student accounts receivables and collections functions, student loans processing, and financial reporting functions.    

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The successful candidate will be expected to perform the following duties:
• Daily management oversight and support to key University student accounting functions and processes including financial administration of the Universities:
o charges to and collection on student accounts
o student loans and scholarship processing
o student enquiries regarding financial and course information
• Facilitate and execute process changes during the implementation of a new campus business system
• Daily management of unionized support staff
• Provide oversight and monitoring of internal controls
• Address complex of difficult student account enquiries
• Financial reporting and analyses as required
• Committee work

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Undergraduate degree in Business or Commerce
• Minimum of 2 years of accounting experience, preferably in a university or similar setting or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Experience and skills in managing unionized staff
• Detailed knowledge of and experience in working with computerized accounting systems, spreadsheets and database software
• Understanding of change management processes
• Strong analytical and decision making skills
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
