Sessional Instructor - Department of English - Faculty of Arts (Fall 2018)
The Department of English invites applications for a sessional position to teach ENGLISH 3810-2: Professional Writing in the Fall 2018 term. This position is subject to budgetary approval.
ENGLISH 3810-2 PROFESSIONAL WRITING
This course introduces students from a variety of disciplines to the competencies and tasks required for effective communication in a professional environment. The course focuses on the following: analytical reports, descriptions of processes, extended definitions, instructions,
business correspondence, memoranda, graphics, presentation of data, and oral presentations. Assignments, designed for the student=s particular discipline, emphasize a sound analysis of the goals for each task, and the effective, economical, clear and correct use of language to achieve these goals.
Tuesdays and Thursdays 8:30-9:45 am
Qualifications:
Qualified candidates must demonstrate a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching. Minimal qualifications are a Master’s degree in English and evidence of effective teaching experience in the relevant area. Preference will be given to those applicants possessing a PhD in English.
Preference will be given to qualified candidates with seniority on the UPEI Sessional
Roster in the academic unit.
