The Faculty of Education at the University of Prince Edward Island has openings for sessional instructors to teach the following courses in the Fall Session 2017.

ED-4360-2  Intermediate/Senior English I 
This course familiarizes students with a variety of theories, practices, and values for addressing curriculum and pedagogy as they relate to the teaching of English at the Intermediate/Senior level. With a view to being and becoming English teachers, both locally and globally, students will participate in writing, peaking, listening, reading, viewing and representing activities as informed by research and in a range of developmental, sociocultural, and media contexts.

This is a three-semester hour course offered Tuesdays and Thursdays on-campus to students in our Bachelor of Education program (Intermediate/Senior cohort) from September 5 to October 18, from 2:30pm to 5:20pm

ED-6270-90  Global Education
In this course, students examine the theory and practice of global education as it has developed in Canada and elsewhere. Other curriculum innovations that have contributed to global education (e.g., development education, environmental education, human rights education, peace education) are also examined. Interactive and participatory learning methodologies are used to encourage reflection on the teaching of contemporary social and global issues in a variety of educational contexts.

This is a three-semester hour course offered Wednesdays on-campus to students in MEd Focus on Global Perspectives from September 6 to December 1 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm 

Qualifications:
Successful candidates will normally have school-based experience in a Canadian public K-12 system.  For applicants without school-based experience, teaching in other contexts relevant and appropriate to the position will be considered. Where courses are offered on-line using multi-media technologies, applicants will normally be able to demonstrate successful on-line teaching experience.  Candidates who do not have previous online teaching experience must be open to and willing to do extra training for this delivery model, and without additional compensation.

In addition, candidates applying to teach graduate courses will normally have established expertise, and successful leadership and/or teaching experience in a context related to the foci of the cohort.

In all instances, qualified applicants on the UPEI Sessional Roster of the Faculty of Education will be given priority. 

THE OFFERING OF THESE COURSES IS CONDITIONAL PENDING FINAL ENROLMENT NUMBERS.   ALL SESSIONAL COURSES ARE SUBJECT TO THE FINAL BUDGETARY AND ADMINISTRATIVE APPROVAL.  THE AVAILABIILTY OF THESE SESSIONAL POSITIONS IS CONDITIONAL ON THE FINALIZATION OF REGULAR FACULTY MEMBER WORKLOAD DISTRIBUTION.
